ANDREX has sneakily trimmed its loo rolls by 21 sheets.

The brand, who claim their product is “soft, strong and very, very long”, boasted 221 sheets per roll.

Andrex has become a next in a long list of big selling brands to downsize their product

However now they’re not quite as long . . . just 200 sheets.

The cut means multipacks of 16 are missing the equivalent of two full rolls of tissue compared to only a few months ago. Packs now cost less at £7.50 but that is just a saving of 35p.

The smaller rolls were cited as the latest example of “shrinkflation”.

Andrex has always been known for being ‘soft, strong and very, very long’

Other big-name brands guilty of the ploy include Kellogg’s, researchers found for Channel 4 show Supershoppers.

Its £1.75 cornflakes boxes have gone from 500g to 450g. Fans of Coco Pops used to be able to buy a 800g box. They now get 720g for the same £3.75 price.

Birds Eye fish fingers come in packs of ten for £2.50, a price that used to get you 12.

The new, lighter packs rolled out in February cost the same as the old boxes, at £3.75 (large box) and £2.69 (smaller box)

Other products that have suffered include Cadbury’s Mini Rolls.

They used to be sold in packs of 12 for £2.75.

The price is now £2.49 for ten.

— SUPERSHOPPERS is at 8.30pm on Channel 4 on Tuesday.
