As summer specials fill supermarket shelves, we ask family of four to put picnic food to the taste test

CHEW, what a scorcher! Temperatures are predicted to soar this weekend and there’s no better time to sort out your best bites for the perfect picnic.

So with the supermarket summer specials already on the shelves, we asked the Riddell family from Bagshot, Surrey, to choose their favourite goodies for an al fresco feast.

Dad Lee, a sales manager, and mum Carlie enjoyed the prosecco and falafels, while Alexa, seven, and five-year-old Eva Rose had their eyes firmly on the cakes and crisps.
